The Villages Shifts Town Square Entertainment to Summer Hours Starting June 1
The word is out: nightly entertainment at The Villages' three main town squares is moving to summer hours beginning June 1, 2026. If you've ever found yourself wilting in the late-afternoon heat while waiting for the music to start, this one's for you.
The Villages Entertainment Department announced on March 30 that Spanish Springs Town Square, Lake Sumter Landing Market Square, and Brownwood Paddock Square will shift their nightly live entertainment from the current 5-9 PM window to 6-10 PM, running through August 31. The change is designed to account for the realities of a Central Florida summer — namely, the kind of heat that makes a parking lot shimmer by 4 PM and the afternoon thunderstorms that roll through like clockwork.
What the New Schedule Looks Like
From June 1 through August 31, here's what to expect at the three main squares:
- Nightly entertainment: 6-10 PM (shifted one hour later from the current 5-9 PM)
- Applies to: Spanish Springs, Lake Sumter Landing, and Brownwood Paddock Square
That extra hour in the evening means the music keeps going until 10, which is a nice trade-off for anyone who's ever wished the night didn't wrap up quite so early. And starting at 6 instead of 5 means you can skip the worst of the afternoon heat and still catch the full show.
Bar Huts Are Getting in on the Action
The bar huts across The Villages are adjusting their schedules to complement the later entertainment hours. Here's what's happening:
- Bar huts at Spanish Springs, Lake Sumter Landing, Brownwood, and Eastport will open daily at 4 PM
- Happy hour runs 5-6 PM — a solid reason to arrive a little early and settle in before the entertainment kicks off
- Bar huts stay open until 10 PM, matching the new entertainment close time
- Over at Sawgrass Grove, the happy hour window is even more generous: 4-6 PM daily
That 4 PM opening gives you a comfortable two-hour window to grab a spot, enjoy a drink at happy hour prices, and ease into the evening without rushing.
What's Staying the Same
A couple of things worth noting so there's no confusion. Sawgrass Grove operates on its own schedule and is not part of this summer shift. Sawgrass keeps its current hours: Wednesday through Friday from 6-9 PM, Saturday with both a noon-3 PM afternoon session and a 5-9 PM evening session, and Sunday from 5-8 PM.
And while Eastport's bar hut is included in the bar hut updates above, Eastport itself isn't one of the three main town squares included in the entertainment hour change.
What This Means for Your Evening Plans
If you're a regular at the squares, the practical upside here is real. Summer evenings in Central Florida are genuinely pleasant once the sun drops lower and the rain clears out — that 6-10 PM window lands right in the sweet spot. You can have dinner at a reasonable hour, stroll over to your square of choice, and enjoy the full entertainment lineup without feeling like you need to race out the door at 4:30 to claim a spot in the heat.
For those who like to plan ahead, consider this your cue to adjust your summer routine. A later start means you might squeeze in a round of golf, an afternoon swim, or just a longer happy hour before the bands fire up. And for anyone who's ever driven a golf cart home at 9 PM thinking the night ended too soon — you've got an extra hour now.
Mark Your Calendar
The summer entertainment hours take effect June 1 and run through August 31, 2026. The change applies to nightly entertainment at Spanish Springs, Lake Sumter Landing, and Brownwood Paddock Square. Expect the regular schedule to resume in September.
It's a straightforward change, but one that shows The Villages paying attention to what residents actually experience during the summer months. Less standing in the heat, more dancing under the stars. That's a trade worth making.
